On Tour with Ladies 3!

On Tour with Ladies 3!

Even though it was sunny and felt like spring on Thursday the 24th of March, we left at 19hrs towards chilly and misty Aduard. The hall wasn’t that warm either, so we dressed ourselves in some extra pieces of clothing during the warming up. Everyone was recovered from corona and injuries, well, for the most part. As Aina (aka Avocado) had a night tournament, Jeneqoi had the opportunity to play as libero.

When we (finally) started the hitting lines, DieLaura hit the first ball immensely hard to the floor. On the head of the opponent’s setter… No fair play, as the opponent had only a few extra players, but who stands in the middle of the field during hitting lines?! At least it wasn’t on purpose. DieLaura would have a similar experience when Vallie served a ball right at her, karma! (see our Insta for a video).

The first set we didn’t play very well? Why? We didn’t score and didn’t listen to our coach Kayleigh (aka Opblaas giraffe) who kept telling us to tip in the middle. Eventually we found our rhythm, but it was too late… We lost the set with 25-20. A little disappointed we substituted some players and started the second set with newfound optimism. This set we listened to Kayleigh, tipped everything to the middle, Vape-a hit the balls immensely hard to the floor, and we saw through the opponent’s tactical balls. We rightfully won this set with 16-25. The third and fourth set went just as well. We were able to control their attacks (they kept hitting on our libero, perfect!), we had a lot of service pressure, our coach substituted herself into the field, Froekki got cramps, Jeneqoi attacked a ball even though she has a shoulder injury (shouldn’t have done that), Robin ran to the other side of the field because she heard “back” (but that was DieLaura who wanted the set), we sang new songs, niet Meike made her comeback, Jeva blocked many balls and Ems (finally) attacked straight. Despite this chaos we won the last two sets (20-25 and 16-25)!

In small talk with the opponent after the match, they mentioned they had a lot of injured players in the field, but that doesn’t bother us as we finally won again and didn’t play a five setter on a weeknight!
